Lonely Hearts?

Well, its V-day today. no date. no surprise there. i never seem to have luck with the ladies.

i do remember vividly this time last year, when i was working in funan, there was this unbelievable queue outside Swensons, just besides where i work. it was still there after 9pm, when i got off work.starving couples in need of some special ambience in order to fill their empty bellies. that food court just doesnt seem to cut it today. Me and my colleagues were saying how amazing it is that people seemed to think a Valentine's day date is any different from any other date on any other day. well, there's a difference all right. everything seems to cost more on this day. this may sound cliche but it seemed to be really true that Valentine's day was actually invented by shrewd and conniving florists rather than some crusty old lover-saving Roman priest.

its weird the lengths people go to on this day, there's the dozen roses bouquet, 2 dozen roses, 99 roses, 999 roses(!!) and the awe-inspiring, impossibly romantic(sic) 9999 roses(!!!!) combo. i really wonder how on earth does one take delivery of roses that are in the hundreds. how does one deliver them in the first place? Have people actually seen anyone delivering 999 roses before? or are those actually miniature roses we're talking about? i've never actually bought ten thousand roses before(dont think i ever will though), so i guess thats something i'll never know.

2 couple frens of mine(thats 4 pple btw) are spending this special occasion in Taiwan; flown there together last night i think. Got to hand it to them though, for the courage and willingness to drop work and the effort to make plans for this special day. That being said, i do believe love should be a daily commitment; there shouldnt be a day where you should love your partner more compared to any other day. and it shouldnt be the case that affection is only expressed on one single day instead of all the time.

so guys out there, get 999 roses for your missus everyday. Capiche?

Quote of the day: What is a date if not an interview that lasts the whole night long?
